Come to God

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.” 2 Peter 3:9-10

Here Peter explains to everyone that God really wants all of the people to come to repentance. God wants nothing but good for us. He wants us to prosper, He wants us to live with Him forever. He wants us to have that abundant life that Christ talks about in John 10:10. But in the subtle but serious tone, Peter explains that God is patient with you, He is willing to walk you through your sins and bring you back home, but He is not foolish and one day it will come. Like Peter says, “like a thief.” Meaning it will come quick, it will come unexpectedly, it will come, that is for sure. God will bring us back home, He will lay down the judgement, He will come back and destroy. Make no mistake God will work with us, but he cannot tolerate our rebellion forever.

The thing that sticks out the most for me in these verses, it si the phrase. “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but every one to come to repentance.” What an amazing thing. He loves us that much that He waits till the very end. He will try every way possible to save us before he brings judgement. I love that about God, He makes it possible to come to repentance. I am overjoyed to know that God loves us that much. I am overjoyed to hear that God really loves us so much that He died so we can be with Him. My response back should be nothing but love for my Savior God. Nothing but love for God. I am so happy a God loves me so much to give me so many chances.

Lord you are so awesome. My response to you is of gratefulness and humility. Continue to love.
