Use Money to Gain...
”I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed in to eternal dwellings.“ Luke 16:9
Interesting passage. Here Jesus states it is okay to make money if you use it for eternal practices. At leas that is what one commentary says. But it makes total sense. Why not use money to gain important results? Why must shouldn’t we use money to gain eternal wealth. The whole passage is about stewardship. But it is also about how we need to use the resources to gain friends. The important thing is to gain friends. Go save the world, that is what the passages means. God gives resources of any type for you to steward. Use it to go save people and save the world. Do things right, but be creative in what you do. This is an awesome verse. Jesus states take every angle and go for it. Look at how to accomplish something and just go for it, and do it as wisely as possible. Use all the available resources at your disposal so that the kingdom can be pressed into areas where with out resources it would not be possible.
So how does this apply to me? I know that I get caught up in making money and that I want to do things that will make money. But what should my purpose of making money be? To gain more wealth? Well, the lesson here is that I need to use the resources that God has given me to spread the word, expand the kingdom, and to widen my influence with others. To expand the kingdom should be the greatest goal, and use everything I have to do it.
Lord, this is a revelation. I mean now I get it, use your wealth so that you can push the kingdom into corners where without it it would not be possible.
